Please let us know when you check out which dates you would like to book. Our usual policy applies should you need to change a date. If you can't make a date, call or email us the working day before and we will move your booking on to the next available date.
If students wish to continue with projects they have already started in one of my workshops I am always happy for them to come along and work on these however it is helpful if I know what they are working on so that I can bring the correct samples, equipment etc
January to June 2024
Each month, the blocks stitched will contribute to a modern sampler quilt so for example if someone just wanted to come and learn how to make the star blocks in month one they could, however to make the whole quilt students will need to come for all six months.
Modern Sampler Quilt
This modern sampler quilt combines a number of pieced blocks which move across the quilt in diagonal lines. The quilt is finished with a twisted ribbon border.
Janet has made her quilt in bright jewel colours but she thinks it would work with most fabric combinations.
Quilt size - 64" square.
Students need to be able to use a rotary cutter and stitch an accurate ¼” seam.
July and August 2024
Scrappy Swirls Foundation Paper Piecing Quilt
The blocks in this quilt are constructed using foundation paper piecing. Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) is a very accurate form of patchwork and is perfect for blocks with intricate shapes. Fabrics are stitched to paper templates on the machine and then once the blocks are finished, the papers are removed. During the two sessions students will work on swirly blocks and lots of tips and techniques will be given along the way. Janet has made her quilt using fabric scraps but the pattern will work with most fabric combinations.
Students will be provided with paper patterns for three blocks and a master for photocopying for further blocks.
September and October 2024
Delectable Mountains Quilt
The delectable mountains block is a classic, traditional block which can be stitched and assembled in many ways. This quilt takes the classic block but adds a modern colour palette by stitching it in solid fabrics and uses a quick piecing method.
Students need to be able to use a rotary cutter and stitch an accurate ¼” seam
