Creative Sewing with Your Sewing Machine with Kathleen Laurel Sage

In this exciting monthly class, you will be shown and encouraged to use your sewing machine to push the boundaries and make full use of everything that your machine has to offer. You will learn how to make full use of any programmed stitches and to confidently free motion stitch and draw with your needle.
A sewing machine is always necessary for this course. We recommend that the sewing machine should be capable of either dropping the feed dogs or use of a plate to cover the feed dogs as this is necessary for many of the Creative Sewing days. There are a limited number of suitable machines for hire from Tudor Rose Patchwork and must be booked in advance of the day.

There isn't always a fabric available that does what you need so why not create your own using paint, shape and stitch?
In this workshop Kathy will show you how to quickly colour plain fabric that you will then hand paint with simple circles to help direct your stitching and gain confidence moving the fabric freely under the sewing needle.
Kathy will then show you how to use your sewing machine to freeform machine embroider simple flowers shapes over the top of your painted circles to create a beautiful summer meadow of modern art style florals.
Your finished fabric can be simple framed as a picture or you could use it to make bags, cards, wall hangings, table runners or book covers. There is no limit. Beads and sequins can be added to make it twinkle and you could even add another layer by hand stitching into the finished surface.
