This regular group with Janet Goddard meets every month on the fourth Tuesday.
Watch Janet here marking out a sample quilt.
Janet provides projects for you to work on, although you can work on your own piece with Janet's assistance.
Her projects are a mixture of simple blocks for those who are new to patchwork and some more tricky for the more experienced and a mixture of piecing and appliques. The aim is build up skills and learn new techniques.
Beginners welcome.
May and June 2025 - My Heart Belongs to You Quilt
The blocks in this quilt are super-sized with each block containing four hearts. This is a quilt which works well in multiple sizes from lap to king and is great for those fabrics that have large patterns on them. The negative space provided by the background fabric really allows the hearts to stand out.
Blocks are machine pieced.
July 2025 - Craft Bag
This craft bag is perfect for storing sewing, knitting or craft supplies. The handy pockets on the outside are useful for threads and small notions while the roomy inside will take larger tools. The bag is softly padded with wadding and closes with a drawstring top.
Students need to be able to use a rotary cutter and stitch an accurate 1/4" seam.
August and September 2025 - Shaded Twists & Turns
Light and dark shaded strips of fabric surround contrasting coloured squares to create a windmill type pattern.
There are lots of possibilities in the workshop. The blocks can be used to make cushions, a wall hanging, table runner or quilt.
Janet has made her blocks into a quilt and has used black and white fabrics with a checkboard of red. This pattern would work well with any fabrics in a 2 colour way eg blue and yellow or pink and green etc. Janet has also used the pattern to make a cushion using fabric scraps and has used light and dark strips to create the shaded effect.
Students need to be able to use a rotary cutter and stitch an accurate 1/4" seam.
The day runs from 10.00am - 4.00pm.
Along side her mid-week class, Janet also teaches stand-alone classes on a Saturday. Click here for details.
