This course is aimed at the student learning, developing and mastering many traditional and modern hand embroidery skills. The culmination of your work will be a beatifully textured and thre-dimensional box. The box has 12 panels one for each month of the.
The idea of creating a box is not set in stone. You are very welcome to use your own ideas and creativity which Kathy will be only too happy to help you with.
You will use the box to present your newly learned skills of textural stitches constructing a personal and unique under the sea aquarium of reeds, coral and tropical fishing swimming amongst ancient wrecks and sunken treasures. You might want to include harbours and a light house on the outside of your box, opening it to reveal an enchanted undersea world beneath the waves.
Kathleen has provided a picture board to demonstrate what the box might looik like. Alongside Kathleen's guidance and suggestions, your choice of stiches, colours and threads will make each panel unique to you so your box will become something that you will be very proud of and might become that heirloom that starts conversations over many years.
And if the ocean not for you, not to worry. Kathleen will assist you in creating a treasure box of your favourite places on land.
