Strong and robust 10cm metal kilt pins made by Mediac (La Stephanoise).   These pins have the traditional head (like a safety pin) but should not be handled by very young people.   Obviously intended for fastening kilts, they could also be used for other kinds of dress.   They could also be used to hold drapery together or out of the way.   

Make a wonderful brooch if you add cord and buttons and beads
