An Introduction to Needle Tatted Lace
This workshop will run over 3 sessions on the following dates: 9th September, 23rd September and 7th October.
In this three week course you will learn some of the techniques for making needle tatted lace. The first week will teach you how to make the double stitch, the chain, the ring, picots, a simple join, rick rack stitch, and how to read a pattern, whilst making a motif for a greeting card.
In the second week Barbara will introduce the techniques of a floating ring, adding beads to the lace, and a chain on chain join to produce a snowflake ornament.
In the final week you will add beads to the middle of the ring and learn the split ring to make a motif which can be used as an earing or pendant.
There may be a little homework if people want to do some practice between weeks or if the tutor is unable to cover everything in the time - this however is entirely optional.
The AM sessions will run from 10.30am-12.30pm
The PM session will run from 1.30pm - 3.30pm
All materials, tatting needles and patterns are included in the workshop price.
In addition to spending your time crafting, Tudor Rose Patchwork offers a special lunchtime menu at O For Coffee for students. You can choose from a selection of jacket potatoes, sandwiches, paninis, toasties and soups
