We are proud to introduce Bev Mayo. Bev is completely unique by offering officially recognised City and Guilds design and craft qualifications, as well as more relaxed beginners patchwork classes.

Bev is a natural designer and a well experienced teacher, she had always enjoyed creating, designing and crafting but it was not until after a Zoology degree (a slight detour!) that Bev took her craft to the next level.  Learning how to cross stitch led to designs being published in a national magazine and then to an impressive list of City and Guilds qualifications; Creative Embroidery certificate and diploma levels as well as City and Guilds Patchwork and Quilting Level 3 certificate.

There is no arguing that Bev has an impressive resume and it does not only include qualifications. Bev has worked in local Primary and Secondary schools as the ‘Artist in Residence’ and a textiles teacher, helping several schools achieve their Art Mark along the way.

As well as passing on her knowledge, Bev is always learning new skills. She is an active member of the Embroiders Guild and the Quilters Guild. Her constant learning has allowed her to have work displayed locally and further afield; she has been a Charles Henry Foyle Award finalist twice with work being exhibited at the Needle Forge Museum in Redditch, and most recent obtained a Highly Commended for her 'Geo' quilt (see photo) at Festival Of Quilts.

We are very fortunate that Bev is also a prolific pattern designer, and we are priveliged to stock her patterns in the shop and here on our website.

Got a specific project in mind? Bev also runs a beginner’s patchwork and quilting class; join her on a Week 1 or 4 Wednesday or a Week 2 Tuesday and learn all the skills you need to create your own quilt. If you don’t know what project you would like to try, Bev will have projects and patterns on offer that are perfectly suited to beginners.

Bev also runs 'Friday Focus' classes in applique and patchwork. Each session she will focus on a different part of either applique or patchwork  and you will leave the session better knowing that area of work.
